Understand activity scheduling types

Overview

Planniac has updated the way activities are configured in Settings > Activity and priced in Catalog.

Each activity now uses one of four scheduling types. The scheduling type determines how availability is managed and how the pricing table is displayed in the Catalog.

Choose the scheduling type that best matches how the activity is sold and operated.

Timeslots

Use timeslots when an activity can be offered multiple times throughout the day.

Examples:

• Snorkeling tour
• Shuttle service
• Sunset cruise
• Group fitness class

With timeslots, you can:

• Create multiple departure times
• Set start and end times for each departure
• Apply capacity restrictions
• Manage availability separately for each timeslot

Example:

• 9:00 AM Snorkeling Tour (12 spaces)
• 1:00 PM Snorkeling Tour (12 spaces)
• 4:00 PM Snorkeling Tour (12 spaces)

Standard times

Use standard times when an activity normally operates once per day at a fixed time.

Examples:

• Cave tubing & zipline
• Full-day island excursion
• Daily winery tour
• Guided nature hike

With standard times, you can:

• Define a single start and end time
• Apply capacity restrictions
• Sell the activity on multiple dates without creating separate timeslots

Example:

• Cave tubing & zipline
• Daily departure: 8:00 AM
• Daily return: 4:00 PM
• Capacity: 20 guests

Duration-based

Use duration-based scheduling when the length of the activity is important.

Examples:

• 60-minute massage
• 90-minute facial
• 2.5-hour airport transfer
• 4-hour private charter

Duration-based activities can be configured:

• With specific appointment times
• Without fixed appointment times
• With or without capacity restrictions

The system uses the activity duration when calculating availability and scheduling.

Example:

• Deep tissue massage
• • Duration: 60 minutes

Or:

• Airport transfer
• • Duration: 2.5 hours

On-demand

Use on-demand scheduling when there is no fixed schedule or defined duration.

Examples:

• Equipment rental
• Special requests
• Concierge services
• Custom experiences

With on-demand activities:

• No times are required
• No duration is required
• Guests simply request the service
• Staff coordinate the details separately

This is the most flexible scheduling option and is ideal for activities that do not follow a standard operating schedule.
