BETA feature: Settings > Added items

Added items are products or services that can be bundled along with activities you offer
This is a beta feature still in development. Expect issues.

What are added items?

When we refer to 'added items,' we're talking about any number of things your hotel might want to add as options or requirements to activities. Other similar words or phrases might be 'attached items,' 'add-ons,' or 'extras.' (However note that 'EXTRAS' is an activity type in Planniac and is a word that could cause confusion).

Where added items are used

Before getting started with these settings, it's important to know how Added items can be used in Planniac.

  • Equipment for tours (like dive gear, fishing gear, caving gear, ski gear, helmet)
  • Products sold in the spa (like artisan hair products, fancy soaps, specialized face products)
  • Food and beverage products (for hotels with small room service menus)
  • Added services (GoPro rental with a tour, childminder, private guide)

Steps for getting set up with Added item

Go to Settings > Added items

Items

We take you through a step-by-step process of creating and pricing the added items.

Attributes

Attributes are variants of the items. Like sizes, colors, flavors, or styles.

Categories

Categories provide basic organization for added items. Planniac includes these categories by default:

  • Equipment (gear)
  • Retail
  • Services
  • Pack meals

Families

Families are used to group items by default for different kinds of activities. For example, if you have a dive shop, you can create families of items for:

  • Diving
  • Snorkeling
  • Fishing

You select that family when you create a new activity. Then in the catalog, all the items in the family will appear as options to attach to the activity.

Combos

Combos are sets, or bundles, of addable items. They can be added to activities as a combo instead of individually. For example you might do a Coconut Spa Combo which includes a shampoo, conditioner and hair gel sold together for a promotional price.

Go to the Catalog or Settings > Activity

In the activity-level setting

  • Look for the Family drop down selection
  • Select a family to use by default

In the catalog provider-level setting

  • Toggle-on 'Added items'
  • Select (or deselect) the combos or items you don't want to include in planns for this activity.
  • Determine whether the selection will be required or optional
  • Determine the pricing (included, the default price, or an adjusted price)
  • Do this for each provider where added items will be used

Now you're ready to use added items in planns

When you book an actiivty for a guest that includes added items, those items can be accessed from the Participants or Quantity section. Click on the small icon (if it's red, there are some required selections to make, if it's green, required items have been selected.

Note that when added items incur a cost, the total will be reflected in the Cost & Payment section.
